Colorado Springs students secretly photographed for government-backed facial-recognition research
A Colorado university professor took thousands of photos of students and faculty without their knowledge as part of research to improve facial recognition software for the U.S. military.

Yup, they trained us well. We just go on shopping and doing our thing.

After reading an article in the Denver Post (CU Colorado Springs students secretly photographed for government-backed facial-recognition research – The Denver Post), I find the argument used by the professor and CU officials to be an unacceptable argument. Granted, the students and faculty had no expectation of privacy, but this is a court standard applied to actions by law enforcement normally.

This project could have been accomplished in other ways that would give students and faculty notice or warning of the "project" being conducted by the professor and provided them the ability to opt out.
