NO I am not mistaken ! YOU are playing another one of your games and we both know it, What you call treatment is not what I call treatment, That's why you bigots keep bleating about mental illness. You want to "cure" them. You want to convince them that they are not trans. What I call treatment is to provide supportive mental health services to facilitate their own self discovery and to decide for themselves which is the right path. The cure is to help them be comfortable with who and what they are- Not to brainwash them as you would advocate

You feel they are trans. I feel they have an illness. I also believe that you feel that an anorexic has a mental illness, or that a person that wants to cut off an arm(trans-abled) has a mental illness.

So, which way is it? Is it just transsexuals that are misunderstood, or what?

Ok let me try to explain this at a lower grade level for you. It is not a matter of whether it is a mental illness or if it can be explained by something else. You seem to be stuck in that dichotomous thought process, I have not denied that there is a psychological component to being trans. One important question is why are they experiencing mental distress. My position which I have stated before- and is supported by the literature- which you do not bother to read- is that their mental issues arise from the distress of feeling that they are in the wrong body as well as from societies reaction to them. You take the position that they are trans because of their mental issues . From there you conclude that they should be cured of that mental illness and there of being trans which is wrong and stupid.

To put it in the simplest and starkest terms for your benefit -they are not trans because they are crazy, They are crazy because they are trans- and that is because being trans is hard-largely because of bigots like you. But instead of educating your self and trying to understand the issue- you keep trolling me with that anorexic and trans able codswallop. And yes I do believe that anorexia and trans able are mental illnesses . The fact that all of these issues involve mental health does not make them all the same . They have different causes, there are different treatments and different measures of success in terms of out come. An anorexic can’t live without food, but a trans person can live and live well as a trans person if allowed to and given proper support,

However, I fear that I am wasting my time trying to get that across to you since you seem to lack the requisite level of sophistication to deal with such complexity so you lump them all together.

Your suggestion that if we need to cure anorexics then we also need to cure trans people -as in no longer being trans is misguided and idiotic- if you even believe your own bullshit, The goal of any treatment is always to help the patient cope better with whatever issue they are having , For the trans person that would include helping them to determine their true gender identity- and to take the necessary steps in order to be less anxious and distressed about it , At the same time we are not going to let someone starve themselves or cut off a limb

Those people may always suffer from their dysphoria but they can learn coping mechanisms so that they wont be self-destructive. The goal of treatment is always to help a person to cope, It is never to mold them into what society wants them to be- as you would do. If you can’t understand this – you are even more of a hopeless case than I though- or your just playing stupid to justify your bigotry. I suspect that your thinking is badly clouded by your disdain and contempt for trans people.
