I do not believe the federal gov't should be financially supporting schools at any level. That should be left totally to the states.

That support from the states should be only to public institutions not private, like Havard and other Ivy league schools!

And there is nothing preventing the government to continue paying them directly for that specific research, as they would any private organization, but this is general grant money.

What is general grant money? Is that what helps funds the medical and scientific research? I'd prefer a direct grant as you do....
