Coalition Warns Trump And GOP Allies Pose Unprecedented Threat To Democracy

When he asked Pence to disregard properly chosen and certified electoral votes from a number of states who voted for his opponent.
Pence supported the Senate's rejection to certify the votes. He was ready to go along with it and not overrule those objections. That's the part the VP plays in the process.

The "coalition" seems to consist of somebody named Jake Johnson of Raw Story. Bill Clinton pardoned an entire gang of bomber anarchists to pave the way for his wife's campaign and lefties are worried that some mom and pop trespassers might go free after having served two years without due process. Lefties are a scary bunch when they get into power.

Pence allowed the objections to be heard in compliance with the law, but given that these objections would be voted down by the Democrats in the House, everyone knew this was a fruitless endeavor.

Which is why Trump didn't want to let it come to that. Trump wanted Pence to disregard the votes unilaterally, without a vote from Congress. That would be unconstitutional.

Donald Trump's recent threat to unleash his supporters on major U.S. cities and suggestion that—if reelected—he would consider pardoning January 6 insurrectionists underscore the dire need to defeat the former president and his far-right GOP allies, both of which represent "a clear and present danger" to democracy.

"Little has been done to hold Trump accountable or stop future presidents from similarly abusing their power."

That's the message of an open letterreleased Thursday by a coalition of advocacy organizations including Public Citizen, MoveOn Civic Action, Stand Up America, and the Digital Democracy Project.

The accountability is coming. They just don’t believe it yet.

So the past few months as soon as democrat approval really went in the shitter these are things they suddenly have been screaming.

Trump is a threat to democracy and will cause a civil war and destroy America.

Republicans are trying to destroy freedom and democracy.

The voting laws are corrupt (even though they haven't changed since Biden won and they said the election was foolproof) and the next election "may be illegitimate" (meaning if they don't win) and that they need new voting laws they want to create.

Everything is racist. Like in Virginia they had a white governor that was a democrat and nothing was wrong, soon as he loses to a white Republican then it was a racist election.

By pure potential, if there was real pushback, many of you would be dead. There isn't any. Your phukn with people in Canada who are mostly vaccinated. You are the tyranny. And that tyranny is going to get rid of people as they always do. And that includes you.

It is telling to listen to their argument that goes like this:

2016 election - The most corrupt, most foreign influenced election in the history of the nation. TRUMP! won.
2020 election - The most secure, least foreign influenced election in the history of the nation. Quid Pro won.
2024 election - The most corrupt, most foreign influenced election in the history of the nation, if TRUMP! wins.

And then they get upset when no one takes them seriously.
