CNN tells its viewers that Pete Hegseth ate $32 million worth of steak and lobster by himself

Troops have always had good food. Stakes were always served at Oakland Army Base.

At least they did before they 'privatized' the mess halls. Don't know what they're like now. The one at Fort Riley was excellent. I was fascinated at how the cooks could do breakfast for thousands and made it look easy.

So tell us the "Real Story"

1). Was $$$$ spent or not?
2). What are the details?

We want to know, and apparently YOU, marvin martian, have the answers, but are unwilling to share the real details.

Please Marvin, detail the spending for us.
I wager that you won't, nor can you.

Are you against our military men and women eating steak, lobster tail or crabs legs once a week?
Seems serving steak has been a luxury meals foe US, troops for quite a long time...
Steak and eggs became popular among U.S. Marines during World War II, often served as a hearty meal to fuel them before significant operations.
Additionally, it's a false bluster that could only be made by a Democrat...

Schumer swings at Hegseth over king crab meals for the troops, but Biden-era receipts show similar tab

"Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is facing backlash for criticizing Secretary of War Pete Hegseth for the Pentagon’s spending on luxury items, including food for the military, despite similar expenses under former Biden administration Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin."

They are lost. Beyond hope.

Trump has broken them.

It's a longstanding practice to treat soldiers in combat areas with a good meal from time to time.

Why do you hate our troops? Oh yeah, you are an America hating Dimwinger Cult minion.

Surf And Turf Before The Storm

Across branches and generations, service members have circulated a widely recognized belief: when steak and lobster appear in the dining facility, something significant may be coming. Often described as a “surf and turf” meal, the combination has become embedded in military culture as a symbolic precursor to deployments, combat operations, or extended missions.

While experiences vary by unit and theatre, anecdotal accounts from servicemembers consistently reinforce the association between morale-boosting meals and periods of heightened operational tempo. The belief has become part of military folklore, shared in barracks conversations, deployment stories, and online veteran communities.

The persistence of this tradition reflects the broader role food plays in deployed environments. Dining facilities frequently use special meals to mark milestones, holidays, or moments when leadership seeks to raise morale during demanding operational periods.

Food, Morale, And Operational Context

Deployed dining operations have long included occasional premium meals as a morale measure. Larger bases and ships may serve steak or seafood during holidays, commemorations, or after intensive mission cycles. These meals can carry emotional and symbolic weight because they contrast sharply with routine field rations or austere dining conditions.

The mental health crisis on the left has become an epidemic. Begala allegedly once advised presidents, now he's airing his bizarre, disturbing delusions on CNN.

I'm sure future scientists will study this period one day with great interest, but in the meantime, let's all have a good laugh.

Also, 100% of the lefties on this board believe Pete ate $32 million worth of steak and lobster by himself. Not a single one of them will deny it.

There is video in the OP, showing the soldiers eating it

Try and at least watch the videos in the OP before making a comment

You look really stupid
Here's what happened to all those lobsters ... :laughing0301:

Lobstergate! You run with that for the midterms. Leftism is a clown show.
I encourage them to campaign on that.
And rioting against ICE.
And encouraging and paying for sex change operations in kids.
And having Communist mayors of New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles and Seattle.
And banning ownership of firearms by law abiding citizens.
And favoring illegal aliens over American citizens.
And battling the concept of actually having to provide proof of citizenship to vote.
And literally rooting for Iran in the current military campaign.
And ... and ... well, I could go on all night.

Here, lefty loons. Educate yourselves.

Extra money in government departments supposedly must be used or they lose it. It may reduce the next year's budget also. As for military food, there is a splurge once in a while. Teh lobster looked sea caught. Decades ago, the steak was good until it sat for a while. Then it became like shoe leather.

Incredibly petty that Democrats and "not Democrats" want soldiers to eat nothing but SoS, MRE's, and boiled taters that they peeled themselves, while they use EBT cards at Wendy's and Taco Bell.

The op is a lie. The article I posted said that spending spree was part of the budget year ending spree to spend their allocated amount so they wont have to reduce their budget next year. I'm pretty sure that type of year end spending is the norm, not the exception.
"they" won't have to reduce their budget for next year, it's the government auditors and legislators who would notice;
"Not full allotted was spent. Looks like we get to reduce next year's budget to what you actually spent this past year."

I noticed this back in my truck driving~delivery days hauling LTL and especially loose cartons.
EVERY government Dept.~ Agency blows their allotted amount on whatever they can, are allowed to. Many replace office furniture annually.

One "DOGE" change that would be worth considering is a reverse process; instead of being "penalized" for not spending full "allotted budget", have a reward system based on how much is saved=not spent form of incentive plan for guv'mint economy and efficiency.
