You don't understand that the show was satire comedy, the show did not revolve around her character. It revolved around Al Bundy. Just an average joe living in a satirical nightmare.
In the early seasons, it was clear she was a teen. But the show ran 11 seasons. Later in those seasons her character was no longer a teen, and neither was she.

Get a life.

I enjoyed that show, but I felt sorry for her character. She was always the "butt" of Bud's sexist comments.
