Choosing Evasion

When a lefties respond to thread topics and opening posts, we know that you absolutely will not provide an answer that demonstrates that you did in fact read and understand what you are responding to. Instead, lefties evade or fight hard to derail it. My question to lefties is about how you decide what you are going to evade with. Do you feel like you are caving to your political opponents if you demonstrate that you read and understood what you are responding to? How do you choose what you are going to evade with?
