I have nothing but love for Asian Americans, but I'm curious about Chinese Students. It seems in the Midwest that our colleges are almost 30% Chinese. Considering that democracy is not taking hold in China, like we foolishly believed it would, is this a good idea? Are we training the people who want to crush Hong Kong to be better able to do us harm? I'm curious how China would let so many people come to the US where they are not under the Golden Shield. They would be able to look up Tiananmen Square and how many people Mao killed. Would these student be followed by the Chinese Government went they got home? How would it be safe for China to let students go to a free society?

35% all chinese in midwest colleges?

Can you link to that statistic?

If they leave China you know they are loyal.
However, I'm thankful that so many Chinese doctors tried to warn the world of the coming pandemic, obviously some of them understand freedom when they see it. What percentage are free or loyal, you tell me.

It does seem a bit high. I know most Big Ten Schools are about 51% local, and the the other 49% is foreign students and out of state students. So if 10% are out of state, and slightly less than that are from countries other than China, then the number would be more around 25% to 30%. I know Purdue specifically has a deal with Chinese Students. Purdue has courted them heavily and gives them one of the best deals in the Midwest.
It actually annoyed many people that the Purdue symbol of a Griffin was offensive to Chinese Culture and therefore seldom used anymore. I love the Griffin. I edited the OP down to 30%, and realize it may still be a bit high.

Its not just the Midwest, and it just isn't college.

My brother lives in the South, and had a Red Chinese girl as an exchange student in his home for high school, and she continued on to college in the south after graduation.

Dude, most of our universities are training American kids to crush America.

We need to worry about the nonsense that we are teaching our own kids.

Our universities are as much propaganda for the Communist party of China, as their universities are.

We fix that, we won't have to worry about what we are teaching Chinese students.
