polls show that neither Wall Street nor the general public has any confidence in Trump’s trade policy.
There is certainly no reason to believe something in a blog that allegedly comes from one of Trump’s stooges (although the blog you cited does not cite their source)
Now that Trump has proven that he can drive the US into an unnecessary, self inflicted recession, people are worried.

China plans to introduce a special port fee for US ships from October 14, according to a statement from the PRC Ministry of Transport's press service.
The statement says that China will levy the fee on ships owned or operated by US companies, as well as ships owned by companies in which the US holds 25% or more of the shares.
"From October 14, 2025, a fee of 400 yuan (about $56) per net ton will be charged, from April 17, 2026, a fee of 640 yuan (about $89) per net ton will be charged, and from April 17, 2027, a fee of 880 yuan (about $123) per net ton will be charged," the statement said.
According to the ministry, by 2028, the fee will be 1,120 yuan (about $157). At the same time, the fee will only be charged at the first port of call, even if the ship passes through several ports in China during the voyage.
The Ministry of Transport noted that such measures are a response to the introduction of port fees for Chinese ships by the US.
Earlier, Reuters, citing a decree by the US Department of Transportation, wrote that the administration of US President Donald Trump wants to ban Chinese airlines from flying over Russia when flights begin or end their route in the US.
The publication notes that US carriers criticize the fact that Chinese airlines can still fly over Russia, unlike American ones.
