Let’s set aside the social credit system. If you look at the infrastructure, architecture and affordability you have to wonder why the West lags so far behind.

Is it because our society and culture has a completely different orientation?

If China weeds out corruption, a huge ask; they will not only win the global war but will become the admired nation.

Corruption is what hurts communists most and it impacts their citizens trust in the system.

Communism simply lowers the number of people with money and power, thus lowering the number of possibly corrupt people, I guess. However, this one party domination does lend itself to a stronghold over propaganda and the media as what really goes on behind the scenes will never be known to the public, as we saw with the handling of Covid as they imprisoned people in their own homes and hid the Pandemic from the world had made sure doctors disappeared forever who tried to alert the world. China then stopped all people coming into their country so that Covid would not be imported into their country but allowed it's citizens to freely go to other countries so that they could seed the virus to the rest of the world, presumably so that they would undergo the same economic devastation they were experiencing to bring them down to their own level.

Whether China purposefully seeded the virus to the rest of the world or whether it was not of their making, either way, they Chinese government used it as a biological weapon on how they handled the virus for the reason giving previously.

Is such a government not corrupt? Hell yes it is, and very much more dangerous than pretty much any other government on the planet.

China is still a Third World country in some respects. Chinese authorities have arrested five people involved in the renovation of Hung Fu Yuan on suspicion of negligent homicide. Inspections of the renovation site had flagged potential hazards even before the disaster. The use of bamboo scaffolding is still common in building construction in China, which is the primary cause of this disaster. Fire alarms in all eight blocks in the northerly suburb of Tai Po were also found to be not working effectively.

The blaze erupted Wednesday afternoon in Tai Po's public housing estate during work on one of eight 31-story buildings. It spread quickly to six others, worsened by flammable netting, styrofoam panels, faulty alarms, and foam-sealed windows that blocked escapes—issues residents had flagged for over a year.

Authorities arrested 11 people on corruption and manslaughter charges, while aid flows in from celebrities like aespa and Tim Cook. As body recovery continues, Tai Po families hold onto hope amid grief, prompting vows for better oversight in aging housing.

Experts tell the BBC bamboo scaffolding, along with other construction materials found at the buildings - which were undergoing renovation - might have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.

Ukraine, it's been said, has corruption written all over it, yet you rate it as a democracy. Where's the catch?

Dont fall for the propaganda Frank

In the 1930’s many liberal/lefty Americans swore that the Soviet Union was a socialist paradise based on reports from “useful idiots” who visited there

Those people still exist in China but are now called “white monkeys”
