I've been critical of certain countries for using the Olympics for nationalistic purposes. China has upped its game and nearly came top of the gold medal table (not per capita).
Here's a good article about what the Chinese do, pumping kids into sports schools just to buy Olympic medals so they can attack Japan and promote nationalism.
