President Trump says crime is rampant in U.S. cities, while his critics assert that it is under control and dropping. Mr. Trump has sent National Guardsmen to select cities to fight crime, while an Associated Press report asserts that the presidentās ārhetoricā mirrors that of āconservatives going back decades who have denounced cities, especially those with majority nonwhite populations or led by progressives, as lawless or crime-ridden and in need of outside intervention.āNo, he's asserting his legal authority over the city, as is the governor.
Trump is the one escalating this situation unnecessarily.
Naw, Vallas would have been far worse.
Woooosh. RIght over your head. Your cult is completely comfortable with 100,000 gang members in your community, but you literally shit your pants at the thought 200 Nat Guard in a population of 2,600,000.Okay, first, the 100,000 number is utter bullshit. I put a lot of the blame on the CPD, which will list anyone as a "Gang member".
Secondly, ICE isn't there for "gang activity", it's there to enforce immigration law. Most gang members are citizens.
THird, the military are not the police. This is why most sensible people SHOULD be concerned that he is deploying National Guard to do police work. That's not their job in peacetime.

Get a grip on yourselves and drop the Trump hate, for the sake of your neighbors.

I've been in the National Guard.... trust me, everyone should be worried about the National Guard being out there with loaded guns. They aren't trained for law enforcement.
President Trump says crime is rampant in U.S. cities,
Wall Street JournalTrump lies.
I see you didn't put a link to that shit you just posted, probably because even you are too embarrassed by it.
Crime has been on the decline since 2021. There's no reason to deploy the National Guard to cities, other than Trump wanting to look "tough".
OK Chicago Police are lying. But your beloved Mayor and Faboi Gov are truthtellers? LOLBecause there aren't 100K gang members.
Don't project your ineptitude onto others. They aren't doing law enforcement. They are protecting their fellow Federal officers.I've been in the National Guard.... trust me, everyone should be worried about the National Guard being out there with loaded guns. I think you will find that the NG of today is a whole different animal than when you were in. They are combat units with multiple deployments now; they were what we in the Reserves and on active duty called "Campus Commandos" back then. Poorly trained, poorly led and utterly non-motivated.You mean the CPD that regularly lied so often that the State had to require them to wear body cams?
Here's the problem with the CPD's "Gang Database". It was so incredibly flawed the city had to make them shut it down, because a lot of innocent folks were being added to it.

Oversight commission shuts down Chicago Police gang database
Twice over the last five years, the city's Inspector General laid into the CPD for its out-of-date database that contained jaw dropping mistakes amid allegations that it was deeply discriminatory.www.cbsnews.com
Over the years, 134,242 people entered the CPD gang database through any number of entry points. Of the people entered, 95 percent were Black or Latinx.
A total of 90 people were listed as over 117 years old or older, and some listed were as young as 7.
"There was nobody fact-checking and scraping and scrubbing the database to check for accuracy," said Driver. "It's Chicago. We have a very tough history that we've got to deal with. A lot of things like that has happened in our past, and we're trying to right these wrongs."
More Than 3 Years After Watchdog Warned Chicago Police Gang Databases Were āDeeply Flawed,ā New System Poised to Launch Despite Objections
The interim Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability will hold a virtual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday to discuss a draft of the policy that would govern the new gang database, dubbed the Criminal Enterprise Information System.news.wttw.com
YOu mean they are out there with loaded guns with a situation they aren't trained for.
Do you know what National Guard Civil Disturbance training consisted of when I was in? One day of Training in December, and we didn't even have enough batons to go around to practice with.
Now, this was back in the 1980's or maybe the 1990s, but I doubt it's improved since then.

Well they should be ok now that you aren't there anymore...Because there aren't 100K gang members.

So you just made a strong case as to why Hegseth is now having to "de-democrat policy" the National guard aka the US military. ThanksI kind of doubt it.
If anything, that probably makes it worse. But today's NG is about as far removed from the "War on an Emotional State" as it was in my day vis-a-vis Vietnam.
We had a lot of Vietnam Vets in our unit.
Now, here's the thing. When I was in the IL Guard, we had six Infantry battalions.
Today, the IL Guard has 2 Infantry Battalions.
And I promise you, they are probably spending about one day on CD training, just like we did.
The thing is that when WE did CD Training, Kent State was still fresh in everyone's mind. Is it today?
A very wise Battalion XO said to us during one CD Training session, "If we are called out on CD Duty, those people are not the enemy, they are our fellow citizens, they are damned angry about something, and they have every right to be."
Given the rhetoric currently coming out of Trump right now, I don't think this wisdom is still there.
Well they should be ok now that you aren't there anymore...
Bring in the NG...
