Chavez Seeks Improved Relations with US



I clearly doubt that it would ever happen, but who knows for sure? I remember seeing Obama chit-chatting with him at one time,and it is up in the air, as to what really happen between the US and Chavez, because of past bad relationships. What do you think the outcome will be, will it work or will it be political disaster waiting to happen?

He needs something from us and thinks that the Democrats are pliable enough to be talked into giving it to him.

And he may fear their losing their majorities before he can get it.

And he may fear their losing their majorities before he can get it.

I think it's possible.

Having good relations with our neighbors wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to the US or to the western hemisphere. Of course there's going to be some idiots like the Pat Robertson types, that are going to having a fit if Obama looks like he's "in bed with socialists". So... maybe not during this election cycle.

However, I'd like to see it eventually and I'm encouraged that both sides seem to be taking a more realistic approach to relations with each other. This development comming when the US is sending troops to Haiti, something three years ago that may have set off alarm bells in Chavez's head is very promising to me.

Chavez may be recognizing that the US is not the greatest evil in the Western Hemisphere... and maybe it's time for us to realize the same about Chavez? Simple thought...
