They didn't know the Berlin Wall was falling "until bricks started hitting [them] on the head."

They didn't foresee the complete and final collapse of their supposed arch-rival, the single most important object of their attention during their entire span of existence, the Soviet Union, until it was all over.

They didn't see September 11th coming.

What they evidently have seen are phantom WMD's in large numbers.

Why is George Tennet still the head of the CIA? Maybe it's time to start cleaning house. Pres. Bush might say he has "great confidence" in our intelligence services but I don't think I do.

So as to avoid misunderstanding, getting rid of Saddam Hussein was a good thing and something that should have been done long ago; good riddance to him. I just worry about the competence of our intelligence agencies.
