Got this one today for dirt cheap. It's missing its clip, and may not be in firing condition (not sure yet), but it has a Finnish acceptance stamp! (SA In a box)
It's 1939 dated, and made by Terni, for the Finnish government during the war. Nearly 100,000 Carcanos were sent to Finland, missing most of the Winter war. They were used during the Continuation war however, but were highly disliked by Finnish troops because of its terrible accuracy, due to the fixed rear sights. Many were discarded at the first opportunity for battlefield pickups, because they disliked the gun so much. Most were issued to artillery, communications, air force and partisan troops, but some were issued to front-line troops.
The continuation war was fought between allied Finns and Germans, versus the Soviets between 1941 and 1944. The conditions were brutal during the winters, and for a while the Finns put up a brave resistance, but when the Finns failed to cut a vital railway line, the Soviets gained the upper hand, and slowly Finland began to lose territory. In order to preserve their nation, the made a ceasefire with Russia, and in 1944, the war was over for the brave Finns.
