Canadian woman hit with $950K medical bill after unexpectedly giving birth in US hospital

The only newsworthy aspect of this story is the astronomical amount of the bill, a product of the U.S. health insurance system (including Obamacare).

Another RW who STILL does not understand that ObamaCare is not a product that one buys.
You're right, it's an unconstitutional law that FORCES you to buy a product.

Almost one million for childbirth? Seriously? What kind of hospital is it?
Seriously, people, something is really not ok with the health care system if such simple thing as giving birth costs that much. A baby that costs as much as a house?
She could've flown to Europe, given birth there and come back - for much more moderate price. Without any insurance.

That's not over the top for a two month hospital stay. In fact, it sounds like she was under charged.

she was less than 36 weeks pregnant. Full term is 40 weeks. 36 weeks is less than 9 months. If she bought a travel policy to travel to another country, why owuld it not be good in the country she bought it for? You make no sense.
You make no sense. You didn't post up what the
policy covered.

She didn't merely give birth. She had a preexisting infection that she did not disclose.

'astronomical amount of the bill, a product of the U.S. health insurance system' can be traced directly back to Reagan deregulating the healthcare insurance industry.
