If this policy doesn't cost America hundreds of billions over a decade I would be shocked. Trumps team has to find a.carve out for Canadian citizens because this requirement is being promoted aggressively in Canada in order to confince Canadians to stay home and it is working. I think I read that in Florida alone Canadians contribute $6.5B though I dont know the details of how it is calculated. They are being unfairly treated like criminals. These are the types of activities we would expect from the RCMP or Canadia border agents who have a notoriously poor reputation, not the CBP. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/snowbirds-u-s-registration-9.6943354.
Several Canadian snowbirds reported they were fingerprinted and photographed at the U.S. border this month when registering for their winter stay, which U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) told CBC News is now standard procedure.

Jacquie and Steve Ree of Ladysmith, B.C., arrived at the Peace Arch Border Crossing between Surrey, B.C., and Blaine, Wash., on Oct. 9.

The snowbirds knew they’d have to comply with a new registration requirement for travellers staying in the United States longer than 29 days. So when a CBP officer said they could complete the process at the border, the couple agreed, unaware of what lay ahead.

Big deal. It's certainly worth a Florida winter especially if you live in an ice box.

Like hell it is. Canadians are used to living in a poloce state, most are too thick to even understand how it works. This is not a good.policy and it is why state run CBC has been promoting the stories. Trumps team has to find a.carve-out. Most were saying "dont believe the media lies about going to the U.S" as they went as tourists without any problem. Media here continues to push these stories,.I wouldnt be surprised if Canadian agencies have bribed some U.S agents to ensure they make it as uncomfortale as possible for Canadians so they can promote the story. Lsst week the story of a CBP agent yelling at a Canadian licensed plate car "you're not wanted here"....it makes no sense.

Getting fingerprinted and photographed? The Horror, The Horror!!!

It was in 2003 when I entered Canada and the lady at the border entry point could not have been nicer, I was shocked how I was treated at the U.S. border, this was still in the era of 9/11 and heightened security, but the U.S. guy was raising his voice at me, asking me accusatory questions, and the dogs searched our rental car.

Everyone, all around the world, has to realize there have always been assholes at border security in the U.S., but we are in a different place now, this is government mandated douchebaggery and extremism that all travelers to the U.S. have never seen before.

I would never consider being under the jurisdiction of the US. Its officials have endlessly demonstrated they can't be trusted. The place will have to go without my pittance.

Just the opposite for me and if you search online you will find MANY stories from Canadians that echo the same, Canadian border guards are A-holes, rude and treat you like a peasant. While U.S guards are generally polite, relaxed and cool, they know the difference between someone coming over as a tourist and a legit criminal.

It's sad how far Canada has fallen. Are you going to follow in our footsteps? I hope not.

My sample size is one visit, it was in B.C., and the difference between the Canadian and U.S. side could literally have not been more different. I still remember this very well, how friendly the Canadian woman was, and what a dick the American guy was, asking me rapid fire questions, trying to trip me up, like I was smuggling drugs, and almost yelling at me. I wanted to punch him in the face.

I've visited the U.S maybe 7 or 8 times I guess. Four of them for work at the time, never stayed longer than three days.

Yeah the U.S border guards ask me questions too, they are designed to trip you up, that doesn't bother me. They just want honesty which they will get, no problem, that's their job.

I had the Canadian guard ask me to pop our trunk to prove we bought some items on the U.S side, just really greasy stuff and the attitude was absurd. I'm thinking, "I'm a born and raised Canadian you idiot, why are you operating as if I am coming INTO the country when I am coming BACK"

I admit, I only had that bad experience once but it stuck with me for multiple reasons. Another time there was a female guard and we showed our duty free alcohol, it was only a few cans of beer or something we bought with my wife and father in law, she just smiled and waved us through.

I was detained in secondary in the U.S once but only because of the Canadian lies from the Creepy Ones. He was nice enough to be more transparent than Canada was, that was under Obama and I respected your nation for that. I even went through your Civil Rights division to complain about CANADA, not the U.S.

Considering the mass migration that Canada has embraced, it makes sense that we would tighten up our border with them.

I mean, is it really CANADA anymore, or just a part of the Third World, with all that comes with that?

ANY foreigner entering the USA for ANY period of time should be photographed, and have photos/DNA taken. Given the power I’d lie to see them microchipped as well.

Are you mad? You want to become like N Korea? That will be great for tourism...

Wow, just wow. I hope you pointed out to the idiot that it was none of his ******* business what you bought or did not buy in the USA, unless he was accusing you of doing something illegal, in which case you'll be thrilled to open your trunk for inspection AFTER you are read the charges and see the court order. Otherwise, like you say, he ought to be thanking you for coming back.

Canadian tourism to the US has plummeted.

One of the reasons I haven't gone to Phoenix in over four years is the Canadians. I have nothing against Canada, or Canadians, please understand. I have visited Canada several times and enjoyed my visits and found the people friendly and all that.
But the worst Canadians seem to spend the winter in Phoenix. I think they must only be there because their doctor told them they will die if they spend the winter in the cold and wet of Canada. So they are already miserable when they get here, and take it out on everyone they come in contact with.
It must suck to be them is all I can say.
But I don't have to go to Phoenix and expose myself to their miserableness.
If the requirements call for photo and fingerprints, I say submit or stay home.

Militia Inspired Conservative Nationalist Republican here and I think Canadians have been detrimental over all ( Some have been an asset ) but the Anti Americanism of the Far Left & Left has been bolstered by transplants .
