Yep, I knew we would piss off the patriotic ones from TN, Texas or some other state.

I would never boo another nations anthem, that's too far for me to go. This is obviously a response to what the citizens of Ottawa did a few days ago. Canadians never see the forest through the trees.

For the polite people of Nashville to do this, people far more polite than the average broke citizen in Ontario; this is startling.

American hockey fans in Nashville put their country on the board in the anthem booing contest that’s been an unexpected fallout of recent U.S.-Canada trade tensions.

Though it wasn’t as long or as loud as some of the jeers audible amidst the din of applause and cheers during the singing of the U.S. national anthem at four previous sporting events in Canada — three NHL matches and one NBA game on Saturday and Sunday — a healthy congregation of boos could be heard as ‘O Canada’ began Monday night at Bridgestone Arena in the Tennessee capital.

They lasted only a few seconds before the crowd fell silent for the remainder of elementary school teacher Cathy Mullins’ performance and there were more cheers than not at the end. Country star Luke Bryan went on to perform ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ and was cheered lustily by the country-crazy Nashville crowd.

I was at the first game John Tavares played as a Maple Leaf at the old Nassau Coliseum. Some fans started booing during the Canadian anthem and immediately the rest of the fans stopped them.

Hopefully this won't last long.

I want to go on the record as saying I think it shameful and disgusting to boo a visiting country's national anthem and shame on those who participated in that. And kudos to those who responded appropriately.

Alas I wish there weren't, but there are ugly Americans. I apologize on behalf of our country that such is so. I think most Americans do feel a warm and friendly connection with our neighboring Canucks and also deplore rude and inappropriate behavior on the part of some of us.

Well, in fairness, this was in response to Canadians booing the U.S anthem though neither side are right.

Almost every time these booing outbursts occur it is the Canadian side doing it first. What bothers me is that no one in Canadian media spoke out against the booing when Ottawa did it. Nor when the Raptor fans did it in Toronto.

These people are not only misplaced in their displeasure, but they are also seemingly unaware that we only have a 30 day reprieve. They would be handing Trump an easy path to applying a tariff as we know he would be angry hearing the boos from Canadian fans to the U.S anthem.

These people are not only disrespectful and undisciplined, they could very well hurt themselves even more.

Booing started in Ottawa and Toronto due to a tariff. Not a war, just a tariff. Canada has tariffs against the U.S and protectionism in the dairy and banking industry among many. SHould the U.S boo Canada for these tariffs?

I don't agree with the tariff and it would hurt our economy, but why is an advanced economy like Canada in such a position? What have we done over the prior 30 years to improve our civil liberties, innovation and entrepreneurial contributions?

We've destroyed and sunk such ambitions because the S.I.C run this country.

This booing was a response. I don't agree with anyone booing someones anthem but this isn't just about Trump, we have an insecure nation and always have. Biden sunk our EV when he signed the I.R.A. Canadians were angry that Biden was going to spend all that money only on American businesses. Can you imagine that reaction? No such reaction when China and Europe do that all the time, but America, our golden goose? They were uncomfortable with Bidens decision but had to accept it as he is a Dem.

The biggest bullies who enjoy smacking around a kid or meddling in the "free market" and destroying lives are often the biggest wimps when THEY are being bullied. It's quite revealing really.

The bottom line here is that under Trump the United States is rapidly losing respect and trust, sure Canada has problems every nation does. But the reactions to Trump's pontifications are not just from Canadians, today almost every country on earth is defying Trump and appalled at the way the US is going.

I think you should not conflate Canada's domestic political challenges with Trump's bully tactics.

Canada is way beyond problems, we have a quasi-police state similar to what the East German Stasi represented.

Just in case Americans didn't know, though I suspect many did; I've reached out to numerous people in the U.S to make them aware. We refuse to respect human rights, civil liberties and right to self determination which is why you will never hear of a rags to riches story in Canada unless it's a hockey player. Even then, if not for the U.S and their union threatening lawsuits and everything else when the league, which was then very Canadian, colluded with each other, these players would be paid 25% of what they paid now.

From the lowly, creepy Toronto police on out, THIS is Canada.

Centralized control over the economy and citizens lives, THAT'S Canada. I've experienced it for 30+ years, I know it very well. The outrage around the globe is funded by those nations impacted and those who do NOT want to be impacted by U.S tariffs.

I'm not a fan of tariffs except against abusive nations, but if America is willing to defend the world and keep the peace than the rest of the world should pay their share.

So which country would you most like to live in?

One in which I am not persecuted by the unaccountable security industrial complex.

They even have a term for it in Canada, a term the Russians and East Germans used "icing one out". They ice people out of the economy, out of healthcare, intimate relations with fellow citizens, free speech etc.

THIS is Canada. Don't apologize for being American as long as you maintain fidelity to your Constitution and citizens freedom to believe in G-d and reach their full potential, regardless of place of birth.

What I've experienced in Ontario would have caused many a man to check out, but I still stand, barely...

Can't you identify even a single country you'd like to live in? a specific actual place that you feel is better than Canada?

Obviously I've been on this forum for over a decade and respect the U.S Constitution. I also think France or Japan would be nice places as well. France gets a bad rap because of poor policies of late but their history is defined by individual liberty once they overthrew their monarchy.

The problem is, I know U.S laws and to be a target in America when you aren't an American, is not good. I am under no illusions of how naive some U.S agencies are to believe Canada and defer to them for the false pretenses.

Now, if I were an American citizen, I would have left this country long ago. That's the difference. It's a really sad situation when one wakes up and realizes just how corrupt and evil certain citizens are in this country. I couldn't do what they've done to me. Maybe against a terrorist, but not a citizen trying to go about their life.

Sounds to me like you’re blaming your government for your own life not turning out how you wanted
Right. I suppose those sent to gulags or concentration camps would receive your deep insight and blame,

How about next time there is a thunderstorm in your area, you go outside and fly a kite in a wide, open field, comrade...

People in Canada are being sent to gulags?

Give me a break
