So your plan is, I'm going to have to pay 1/4 of my income in taxes to pay for public health care.... and then save up my own money anyway, to pay for private care, because public care sucks.
What is the up-side to this?
What would actually happen is you and most ordinary people would opt to use the public option after realizing the bullshit you've been fed by right wing propagandists is indeed bullshit. American health in general would improve because more people would regularly go to the doctor and receive preventative care. Oh, and by the way that would reduce overall healthcare costs too. Ever heard the saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? Yeah...
Canadian and European healthcare is not some backwards nightmare. I have been to Canada and to Europe. The people there are happy with what they have. They are amazed that we do it the way we do here. Studies say the people in those countries are happy with how they do things as well, which backs up my own anecdotal experience. They don't want to move away from public care, just find ways to improve it. We are the ones that are backwards with healthcare. Everybody else has figured it out. These propaganda pieces y'all eat up are misleading and agenda driven. Conservatives are wrong about this, and they will lose this battle.
