Why?

In Canada we have what are called transfer payments which is the rich provinces give to the poor provinces. Quebec makes a killing. Eventually they'll whine about wanting to become their own country and will then have a referendum for Quebec. The last one they wasted so much money they could have built a hospital.

They have a language law which means French has to be prominent. All businesses have to have signs where French words have to be bigger than English words. When they introduced it they looked stupid because many businesses didn't have an English translation. Anyone who emigrates there is required to speak French. It's a bitch for their French people to attend an English schools. They have to jump through hoops. I'll stop now.

Actually no The United States entered the war seeking to secure commercial rights and uphold national honor. The American strategy was to quickly bring Great Britain to the negotiating table on these issues by invading Canada. Captured Canadian territory could be used as a powerful bargaining chip against the crown. England had been treating the U.S like it was still one of their colonies interfering with American trade boarding merchant ships even taking sailors off them and pressing them into service on British ships. These were just a of couple of reasons America declaring war against England but they only wanted any part of Canada for leverage in negotiations nothing else.
