"I taught in China" etc. Perhaps his vision is cloudy.

Appears Canada is concerned that Trump is going to stick to his guns. The Police State in Ontario is going to need to find a new source of tax revenue if Trump succeeds in brining these industries back. You know what industry is in MASSIVE expansion? The S.I.C of course.

There is a reason the smaller countries in Europe don't make cars, and neither should Canada (or Nebraska). As an American, I shake my head at the idea of that huge sparsely populated area pretending to be an economic and political equivalent of the United States. Setting aside any patriotic fervor, any economist looking at a map of North America should instantly see the inefficiency of separately duplicating the US on a one-tenth scale.

It appears that Canada's current relationship with the US is constrained by the same factors that constrain its relationship with Quebec. In both of these relationships, the smaller entities have placed more importance on their cultural/historical differences with their larger neighbors than on their mutually beneficial commonalities. Until now, the larger entities have indulged their smaller neighbors as if they were prodigal children.

I don't want Canada to become a 51st State any more than do most Canadians. They are welcome to keep their socialism. But economic and strategic realities require the US to defend its national security, regardless of who's feelings are hurt. Isn't it time for everyone to put on their big boy pants?
