This is a sad day. A slap in the face and a kick in the groin to our reputation. Canada hasn't had a seat here for 20 years, after decades of being a solid seat. This time we lost to low performers Norway and Ireland.
I've been saying for a very long time. Canadas focus on domestic policing of it's own citizen has branded us "unreliable" on civil liberties and Western values.
This isn't the reason we lost, but, it adds up to the entire equation of who we are and how we are viewed. When Canada doesn't pay it's share (but talks a good game), instead focusing of the local kakistocracies,, when we avoid our military duty, and, we spit on our own citizens opportunities while pretending Rule of Law and Due Process is followed. Well, even the U.N isn't that naive.
We are a well known Human Right violator thanks to the creepy covert TPS, OPP and RCMP. We can't just fool the world into believing we are anything but a sick replication of the former East Germany. Just look at our economy...we're laughed at in Toronto.

Norway and Ireland won the two available temporary seats, with 130 and 128 votes respectively. Canada won 108 votes, falling 20 short of the 128 needed to win a spot at the table.
It's a heavy blow for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne and other high-level officials who had been reaching out to political leaders around the world in a campaign to secure one of the two available rotating seats.
The Security Council holds ten seats for temporary members that join the table for two-year terms. The council has five permanent members — the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia and China — which have the power to veto resolutions.
Pro-Palestinian groups blame Canada's Middle East policies for its failure to secure a seat. Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) issued a statement saying the defeat "proves that Canada's failure to demonstrate leadership on human rights and international cooperation has isolated it from world opinion."
