Well, Trump said Carney is a nice guy. That often leads to Trump winning any trade war but at least he doesn't view him as he does the guy in Australia.
As it were, Canada cannot win in a trade war with America because we didn't innovate. That is our key problem, we lose our best and brightest, promote a MASSIVE government apparatus, often those with family relations to the bloated Security Industrial Complex so that the system is in fact, a caste system in which being intelligent and honourable is looked down upon.
This is how covert Police States work and I hope Carney addresses it in a dramatic fashion.
Carney is at least intelligent. He's far brighter than Trudeau. Trump understands the situation though and the worst person in this has been Premier Doug Ford. When he said "I will cut off their energy and smile" and one of his lackeys in the back smiled with him, it was a REALLY bad decision.
When Trump talks about Canadians being "nasty", that is an example of what he is referring to. Trump does not like threats like that, especially to the well being of Americans during Winter.
So, Trump has decided, I gather, "I am going to take as many jobs and industries from Ontario as I can" Other provinces are losing jobs too because Trump has the cards and he has decided to play his hand.
The TACO acronym which was prematurely used, is not applicable in Trumps dealing with Canada. In fact, he has been unusually indifferent. From his standpoint it's just pure cash for the treasury and will help him to either pay down debt, and/or give some back to citizens, which I suggest he should do, even if just 25% of it to remind citizens of the value of defending their economy. Do it on a scale based on last years income tax with a minimum to everyone even if they aren' working.
Let's assume for arguments sake the U.S collects $360B in tariff in 2025. 25% of that is 90B Divide that by 400M citizens and you come to $225 each, the other 270B can be applied directly to your deficit
Now, how many 18 year olds + do you have working? According to this website it is 170M people. A record right now:

Of this 170M, Trump should decide to give everyone who makes less than $150,000 a return. That might drop the number somewhat. You go from there and give people a check back according to a salary scale. $500-$1000 or something, the math is probably off there as I'm spending too much but you get the idea.
That's what I would do if I were him. Giving 25% back is a big deal to citizens and make them part of the trade negotiations.
