Can we stop blaming one party over the other about our do-nothing congress?

Both democrats and republicans are to blame for this least productive congress in history. I'm sick of partisan hacks blaming one party over the other. Both parties are useless right now. The democrats were useless when they controlled both houses, and the republicans did nothing to fix things when they took control of the House.

Sadly, you have a point, Billy. Welcome to the world of libertarianism. Your decoder ring and scouts uniform are in the mail.

In my mind, this failure of government does not mean the idea of government is an inherent failure. Not even close.

Who said we think "government is an inherent failure" precisely? Are you working off stereotypes of libertarians? There's a difference between limited government and no government. Without government there is total anarchy. With too much government there is tyranny. Rather cut and paste to tell you the truth.

Congress is far from a 'do nothing' group. That's part of the pro-Congress media's marketing campaign. In fact, Congress is doing all they can for themselves and their benefactors whilst screwing everyday people in their asses!

I do understand what libertarianism means. However, that is not how libertarians talk. I am hard pressed to find a libertarian who understands the importance of the federal government's role. There is too much talk on limiting its role. In reality, the federal government has shrunk in recent years.

Well you just found one. Government's role must be limited. Not eliminated. That's as simple as I can put it.

Okay, limited how?

Months prior to the shut down of government the Democrats offered a bill to avoid the shut down. Approximately 12 times they asked the republicans to meet with them to work on that bill that would avoid the problem. Each and every time the republicans ignored the Democrats request for a committee to avoid the shut down. Now you want to ignore who is responsible for a do nothing Congress. I'm sorry but it is a little difficult to ignore the fact that one party has voted to repeal ACA 48 times knowing that there is zero chance of the bill getting through the Senate. It is a little difficult to ignore that one party voted to defund ACORN recently despite the fact ACORN has been shut down for the last three years. It is a little difficult to ignore one party condemning ACA and yet providing nothing to take it's place. It is a little difficult to ignore one party has campaigned on "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!" and has yet to provide one bill that will help create jobs. It is a little difficult to ignore one party has only passed 55 bills, THE LOWEST IN THE HISTORY OF THE HOUSE, in the past year. It is a little difficult to ignore when the Speaker of the House brags about the bills he hasn't passed rather than the bills he has passed. Try to pretend the problem is with both Houses of Congress but boehner has pretty much been the worst Speaker in history. Their is a reason the approval rating for Congress is the lowest in history. BLAME WHERE BLAME BELONGS.

Please tell me you aren't serious. The Patriot Act, the NSA, the IRS, Obamacare, and all the scandals involving them should tell you how limited government should be.

I'd be lying if i said i hated dems and Repubs equally lol. However, you must admit how ineffectual the dems were when they controlled all of congress. The GOP publicity stunts is what put them over the edge though.

That entire statement is laced with caveats. "The GOP publicity stunts is what put the [the Democrats] over the edge though." Drop the charade.

You have to judge acts of government on a case by case basis. Just because the NSA and IRS have overstepped their bounds, it doesn't mean we should do away with them. Just fix them.

Sigh. Stop putting words in my mouth. One way to get my hackles up is to start putting words in my mouth.

Now. Where did I say I wanted to 'do away' with anything, with the exception of Obamacare?

You're asking me to be fair for the sake of being fair. I can't help how I feel about the GOP. What would be unfair and unrealistic is that I favored dems. I do not. I simply think they are the lesser of the two evils.

Come on, cut the bullshit. You hate dems more than you do Repubs.

Then what is your point?
