Some of Iran’s Enriched Uranium Survived Attacks, Israeli Official Says

Israel has concluded that some of Iran’s underground stockpile of near-bomb-grade enriched uranium survived American and Israeli attacks last month and may be accessible to Iranian nuclear engineers, according to a senior Israeli official.

The senior official also said that Israel had begun moving toward military action against Iran late last year after seeing what the official described as a race to build a bomb as part of a secret Iranian project. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.

The official said Israeli intelligence picked up the nuclear weapons activity soon after the Israeli Air Force killed Hassan Nasrallah, the longtime leader of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militia in Lebanon. That observation prompted the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to prepare for an attack with or without U.S. help.

Despite trump's adamant claim (Hegseth's and Leavitt's too) that Iran's nuclear weapons program experienced total obliteration, and his subsequent claim that questions raised about the accuracy of his statement were "fake news," (fake news being a metaphor for contradicting trump with the truth) Israel disagrees.

However, Bibi would like nothing more than to keep Israel on a war footing in order to remain in power. What better excuse to drop some more bombs on Iran than claiming the work of eliminating Iran's nuclear bomb capabilities remains unfinished. Since Israel has a dog in the fight can their assessment be trusted?

Try this one on for size: Iran acknowledges that it has enriched uranium to 50-60%. There is NO PEACEFUL purpose for doing so. Commercial nuclear fuel is about 5% purity when installed in a reactor. The ONLY reason to enrich uranium above 5% is for use in dirty bombs, nuclear bombs, or for other nefarious purposes. Iran has PUBLICLY STATED that its goal is to eradicate Israel, then the U.S.

Is that not sufficient justification to attempt destroy Iran's nuclear program?

If your next door neighbor tells everyone who will listen that he intends to blow up your house, then he starts buying chemicals that are used to make explosives...

Draw your own conclusion.

Got a source? Oh wait, it’s the NYTs. They just make shit up and attribute it to anonymous sources.

interesting POV mr.berg. Can you define the nature of "the dog in the fight" which
in your vaunted opinion keeps Israel "in the fight" and thus corrupts its assessment?

Personally, I think Iran should be prevented from acquiring a nuclear weapon. I don't believe that matter is in dispute outside of Iran. What is in dispute is the degree to which their weapons program has been damaged. Despite Pete's passionate assurances to the contrary in defense of Dear Leader.

Of course we wouldn't be having this conversation, and we wouldn't be making somewhat uninformed assumptions about what is going on in Iran, had Dotard not torn up the JCPOA.

The lack of any radiation increases at the site suggests there was no complete obliteration of anything of significance. I did find it ironic that the MAGA defense was to wait until the final damage reports when they themselves believed that Trump's pronouncement with no damage assessment was true.

That’s a dumb question. Of course, Israel can’t be trusted.

He made his premature "obliteration" remark just three hours after the bombs had hit.

It seems he's a fan of getting out ahead of the details to give the public a false, first impression. Probably reflecting on the success of Billy the Bagman's deceitful "exonerated" remark following the release of Mueller's report. Wow, what a lie that was.

IMVO the JCPOA is a non issue. Iran did everything underground ----in fact, under mountains
That’s a dumb question. Of course, Israel can’t be trusted.
well THAT ^^^^ explains the situation !!!!!!!!!!

I certainly don't believe the Trump Administration ... Iran's proxies are still sinking ships near Yemen ... Trump is turning his yellow-bellied whoremongering little cowards ass away ...

Iran says they moved their uranium, so why aren't we still bombing them? ... I guess conservatives are ***** ...

Calm yourself----the issue of Iran's proxies will not be solved by BLOWING UP Iran. ----most
importantly the voices that INSIST that Iran (to wit---IT'S SICK GOVERNMENT) is enemy to the
USA must be discarded (with a careful note of those who so insist)
