Canada and the US are so fundamentally different that no Canadian in his or her right mind would ever agree to it.
We do not share a similar history or culture. The US was a country born of revolution and war, and is based on a Constitution which was written over 200 years ago, and is sorely out of date.
In Canada, women have equal rights to, full reproductive freedom of choice, and gays have equal rights as well. Handguns are strictly controlled and we want to keep it that way. And by and large, we trust and respect our government.
We have government funded health care, which you will have to pry from our cold dead fingers. You have no idea how much Canadians love their health care and think yours is a piece of shit. Our education system is also better and cheaper. Our cities are more liveable, and Canada is consistently rated one of the best countries in
the world to live in.
Yours is a country divided against itself and as a result, the US is declining both socially and economically. Why would we want to take on your mess?
Is that why they come here for sophisticated medical treatment?
Very few Canadians go to the U.S. for medical treatment. Most Canadians who seek medical treatment in the U.S. are there for business or on vacation and have medical emergencies while there.
I know of several Canadians who had medical emergencies while in the U.S. and refused to stay for treatment because they would receive better care at home. They asked simply to be stabilized so they could get home for treatment.
Quite a few Americans sneak across the border to use their Canadian health care enrolment cards they obtained while attending university here. Of course Americans never admit that.
If medical care in the U.S. is so great, why do Canadians, on average, live 3 years longer than Americans? Canada is 11th on the life expectancy list. The U.S. is 36th.
