I guess I was lucky. My time in the public school system began in a little wooden school house (literally). There was no AC and we opened the windows to let cool air in, and there wasn't even screens. But it was in a valley with a small creek that ran past the building. It is gone now.

This was all long before the sexualization of our society, our teachers were quite good and wholesome. I went to three other public schools, each for two years, but by the 7th-8th grades, I began falling out of the public school increasingly incompatible, I skipped some classes in 7th grade and about half the year in 8th, and finally by high school, I left to go to a private school. This was in the early 1970s and it was just about at that time that the school system started getting really f*cked up anyway, they started fooling around with social engineering, and I was really lucky in that the private school was the time of my life with teachers and aspects of it far closer to going to college than going to a public school.
