Totally wrong.
In a republic, government has ZERO authority of its own.
It only borrows delegated authority from those it protect.
Since the public does not want strict immigration laws or enforcement, government is protecting no one, and is being draconian instead.
Originally there were no immigration laws at all.
The immigration laws that were passed, are to slow down immigration and that is all.
We are all descendants of immigrants, so if there were no birth right citizenship, none of use would be citizens except the native Americans.
The Constitution gives all authority on immigration to Congress, and none to the executive.
ICE is way out of control.
They are not following the laws like on requiring a hearing to obtain a search warrant before a raid is legal.
