Opponents of the Democratic gerrymander start casting blame for defeat at the ballot. Republicans appear to have all but abandoned their efforts to defeat a Democratic gerrymander of California’s House districts one week before it goes before voters.

As Democrats pummel the state with Yes on 50 advertising, the Republican side of the battle has gone quiet. Major GOP donors and party leaders have effectively vanished from the front lines.

The biggest funder of the campaign to defeat Proposition 50, Charles Munger Jr., has not contributed any significant cash to the cause in weeks, and his Protect Voters First committee cut its weekly spending from more than $4 million to less than $300. The other opposition committee, Stop Sacramento’s Power Grab, spent $155,000 on advertising last week, compared to $3.8 million from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Yes on 50 campaign. 47's putting the National Guard in L.A. does not sit well members of both parties and attempt to do sweeps of the Bay Area flopped and protesters blocked Coast Guard Station Alameda. The California Republican Party is pissed that 47 sat out the campaign as well.

The "No on 50" campaign is being out spent and what few ads they did put up did were pitiful to watch. Very low level unknown Republicans from parts of California that very people even know about. The one Black Man they used fizzled out when he decided he wanted more money for his ad. The party that gave the championship Free Trader Ronald Reagan both the Governorship and the White House had become a disgrace.

How can libs complain about gerrymandering when they are the worst practitioners of it?

Several blue states have zero repubs in congress

Tsk, tsk, tsk, who are you trying to convince? You or me? Seems that by virtue of your post, you aren't.

Calling the report from Politico fake news won't work. Right now, as it stands Yes on Prop 50 will pass. There is little to no opposition to the proposition. The funds are not available, the one real active donor gave up on winning.

Charles Munger wanted the next Elon Musk and failed. It his money that bankrolled it. He wanted to use his position as Chair of Santa Clara County Republican Party to move up to the governorship. He though that opposing prop 50, he would enough notoriety to run. Now those ideas are as dead as his movement.

It's CA, the prop was in the bag before the first ballot was printed. Amusing that you are trying to convince yourself of a foregone conclusion. LMAO

45% of voters in California are Democrats. 82% of the California reps to the U S House are Democrats due to current gerrymandering. Obviously this new gerrymandering is not to make California more fair and equitable, but to increase the number of Democrats in the house to make a less even balance.

It’s a war Republicans win because democrats can’t gerrymander much more than they already have. Let the games begin.

As people leave, they will have some wealth with them. Hopefully they will not be Progs. Also, corporate/business interest will slowly leave also. Red states and areas will prosper in a huge way in a slow declining nation. To me this is like Halloween used to be like a half century ago if you had a sweet tooth.
