They only get awarded if they win the case.

Since the right to own and carry firearms is a Constitutionally protected right, as opposed to the lack of a Constitutional protected right to kill a life, then it is unlikely that any litigants will win.

Of course, if you really think that killing life for convenience is a Constitutionally enumerated right of the citizen, then by all means, pass an Amendment to the Constitution.
