The fact remains that it was Democrat policies that are directly linked to the Housing Bubble - namely the absolute refusal to reign in the out of control mortgage laundering done via Fannie and Freddie Mac.

The Housing Bubble led to the credit crisis, followed by the overall recession.

The Bush administration tried repeatedly to do something about the Fannie-Freddie issue but the Dems, mainly Dodd, Frank, and Waters, would have none of it.

The Bush administration - as well as the then-Republican controlled Congress, should have been far more forceful about it though - it was too far off of their primary agenda - but the blame lies primarily with the Democrats for creating the very environment they are now stating they must repair.

When President Obama states "it was the tired policies of the last eight years that got us into this mess" he is being dishonest. It's a common political move to blame the previous party for the current challenges, but in this case, quite dishonest even by "normal" DC political standards.

I agree with everything here except the Republicans should have been far more public/forceful about the issue.

They went about it during "normal business hours" in DC - it needed to be talked up as much as possible by both Congressional Republicans and the Bush administration. That did not happen.

But yes, the Housing Bubble was a direct result of very poorly executed liberal housing loan policies deeply imbedded in the Democrat-controlled institututions of Fannie and Freddie Mac.

That story still has not been revealed nearly enough to the public. They complicity of certain Democrats in this fiasco should have resulted in Congressional Hearings.

So there is no Clinton policy which jealously defends US interests against Islamic terrorism... to the contrary, Clinton stripped US intelligence of essential tools it needed to infiltrate terrorist netowrks. He specifically forbid the CIA from hiring operatives with criminal histories... Now understand that Clinton's policy was to PROSECUTE Terrorists as CRIMINALS... Violators of US legal code... To THEN implement a policy which forbids your intelligence agency from hiring criminals as intelligence assets, in their pursuit of what HE DECLARED TO BE CRIMINALS, is pretty ******* STUPID... IF IT'S NOT BY DESIGN; if one is not complicit in their desire to harm the US.

It would be the same thing if GW Bush declared the US to be at WAR WITH TERRORISTS (which he did...) and then established policy which forbid the CIA from hiring those with TERRORIST BACKGROUNDS in their effort to infiltrate terrorists organizations (which he DID NOT)...

Clinton was complicit with Islamic Terrorism... and it cost us 9-11 and the GWOT....
