For any who may not know, at the conclusion of a wrestling meet (like many other sports), the two teams line up and shake hands in a gesture of sportsmanship. Since all the Covid crap, this has become doing the "first bump" thing instead. Since the sense of "covidness' has waned, many people have gone back to the traditional handshake, while others are sticking with the bump. Since we wrestled a quad today, this resulted in many instances of "bump, shake, nod, what?" comical confusion.

Just ignore everyone ... it makes life so much more easy.

Why does it matter? As long as they are showing they are good sportsmen, any shake, bump, slap, or nod is good.

Let's just bow ... I hear that Asians NEVER get sick.

It certainly doesn't matter, but it's pretty amusing when a proffered hand is met with a fist to bump at the exact same time. Some good laughs today at the situation.

I prefer the “spit on hand and give high 5” technique

We used to just shake hands, now we're playing roshambo.
