The country has only two political party system and if any group tries to start a third and fourth will face reckoning.
It's six of one, half a dozen of the other. That's the problem with both parties. Meanwhile, the people will cheer for the party that aligns with their narrative regardless if it's right or wrong. I don't blame the rich. Their money, they can spend as they wish. I do however blame the politicians. Their only objective is enriching themselves, friends, and families. This is where I don't see a difference with both sides. Republicans will say, "yeah, we are gonna create jobs for Americans and taking care of our citizens". Democrats say, "we are looking out for the poor and soak the rich." End of day, the average Joes and Janes are fucked as usual. How many years have Democrats say the party will end poverty. How many years have the GOP said we are winning the war on drugs. Decades of war against poverty and poverty hasn't gone down. The same goes for this useless war on drugs. Those are few problems with this country. Unless there are multiple parties like four or five, the people will continue to pay the price.
Republicans will tell you go find a ******* job.
Democrats will throw you a ******* bone to stop your complaining.
The people end up with nothing.
The FPTP system doesn't really allow for third or fourth parties.
Why? Because you have four choices.
1) Vote Rep
2) Vote Dem
3) Vote 3rd party
4) Don't vote.
If you vote Rep, then you want the Dems to lose
If you vote Dem, then you want the Reps to lose.
The US is very much a negative voting system. Most people are probably not voting for who they want to win.
3rd party just leads to you not having a say in loses and not voting is the same.
In the UK, which has FPTP, there has historically been three parties, Lib Dems and Labour split the left vote, and the Tories who get in most of the time. From 2010 to 2024 the Tories were in power. Every election, except one in 2019, Labour and the Lib Dems combined got more votes than the Tories, but the Tories were in government.
So, the left didn't care. Now, Reform is emerging and will split the right vote.
But still, imagine a situation where there are four parties, one gets 23.2% of the vote, one 23.3% of the vote, one 23.4% of the vote and the other 23.5% of the vote. Clearly there is no consensus, but just pure luck will give the latter the seat.
It's ridiculous (and West Belfast in 2015 had a candidate win with less than 25% of the vote).
This leads to politicians who don't have to care about the voters. They just have to care about making enough money to promote themselves enough to get elected.
And yes, the people end up with nothing.
No point in voting, it's worth getting on the streets because you might actually stop something from happening, because a few thousand people can do more than millions at the ballot box.
So, it's time for change, but the rich don't want change and the people are too ignorant to change.
