Well, this played out exactly as I predicted.

In spite of some crazy zealots at the Sudan Education Ministry, a lot of people, including a lot of muslims, knew this teddy bear thing was ridiculous. The Government of Sudan pardons the teacher, and she does not face any "lashings".
