Breaking News. Plane crash in DC. Collided with either helicopter or drone over Potomac.

Very murky preliminary details.

It looks as though the helicopter or drone aimed for the plane?

60 on board plane. At least 3 bodies recovered.

Terrorism is a possibility.

Good thing Biden and Mayorkas let in tens of thousands of criminals and terrorists!

A helicopter and another aircraft collided near Reagan National Airport Wednesday evening, two people familiar with the incident said, drawing a large emergency response. The D.C. fire department said on X that a small aircraft was reported down in the Potomac River near the airport but did not immediately provide more details of what happened.

The D.C. police department said it was responding to an “apparent air crash in the Potomac River.” The people who described the aircraft involved in the collision spoke on the condition of anonymity because an investigation into the matter is underway. Fireboats were reported on the scene. It could not immediately be determined if there were any injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration said the airport has been closed due to an emergency.

It looks like that helicopter headed straight for that plane.
Just saw (on Fox) that the helo pilot was asked by the tower if he could see the plane, then he was instructed to go behind the plane but right then, they collided.

Conspiracy theories aside:

I don’t know, but I have read some (unverified) pondering about the military craft. It is to the effect that it may have been flying for some (?) VIP?

One source, and just one I've seen, says: The FAA confirms the helicopter was a Sikorsky VH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, the very same that is often used in VIP transportation.

Unusual for a helicopter to fly that path. Only one major, large aircraft runway at National and, looking south toward the Wilson Bridge, you can see several planes at a time lined up over miles headed toward that runway. Helicopters likely launched from nearby Bolling AFB stay clear of that path. Why this one veered directly into that approach path is puzzling.

Now I get a report that the helicopter (a PAT flight) was “not” carrying any VIPS.

BUT, yes, it was carrying at least three soldiers. Maybe additional crew?

Those helicopters have no business being in that airspace at night, the controller asked him if he could see the plane at night?

Jesus, that sounds like negligence from the tower. What could go wrong? Oh, you meant that plane?
Yeah, good point but they said there was a 10 mile view and good weather. You would also think that the blackhawk would have some kind of proximity sensor to warn them of the approaching plane.

Just in, another jet was taking off close by. Speculation is that the helo crew saw a different plane than the tower was telling them to avoid.
