Breaking News From Blackhawk Helicopter Crash

Did the NTSB just figure out the helicopter was at the wrong altitude? Fire all of them. I knew that when I saw the crash

BINGO. Somebody gets the sarcasm.
  1. We know the airliner wasn't at the wrong altitude because it was descending to the runway coming in for a landing.
  2. It was common sense the night of the crash therefore that the chopper had to have been at the wrong altitude. If not the wrong place period.
Pretty scary that days later, the NTSB had the nerve to actually make an official announcement of the obvious like it was something they had to work to figure out.

Also, it is pretty scary to hear people say that the helicopter did not hear the tower hence they did not know they were going to hit a jet.

First, messages are always confirmed, affirmative.
Two, they are wearing headphones
Three, the pilot must know where they are and the hazards

Even if the tower is a 100% incompetent, the pilot is 100% at blame.

Even I look both ways before crossing the street and that is exactly what happened here. The pilot did not look both ways.

Or, the helicopter stupidly thought they could make it across before the jet.

How is this breaking news when it is 11 days old?

And things like this will hapen again. Some other place. Some other time. Because it happens. Unfortnate, given all of the lives lost in this particular ''civilian'' involved event but it just is what it is.

We are obviously not being told the facts. In my experience, night vision has a rather narrow AFOV due to the nature of photomultiplier tubes, and I would not want to be limited to flying at night by only night vision unless there was at least one other person not wearing any goggles free to look around and canvas the entire area for other things.

Crossing the path of jets sounds like pure stupidity to me. Arrogant? The incredible danger involved is apparent.

Especially jets coming down for a landing. Weather and all, one never knows what might happen and planes tend to fall out of the sky when in trouble, not go higher. Flying 100 feet under one just is not a good idea.
