Breaking News: Alabama Chief Justice Orders Judges to Just Ignore Pro-Gay Marriage Federal Ruling

EDIT UPDATE: It is being reported that multiple county judges are not issuing marriages licenses. They are abiding by Roy Moores order.

And many other counties are issuing marriage licenses for same-sex couples. They are getting married in Alabama.

And Judge Roy Moore may be kicked out of office yet again.

Another sane judge. We need more of them.

Roy Moore is sane? Not even close!!!

When he was a circuit court judge a custody case was brought before him. The father had been convicted of domestic abuse and on drug charges. The mother was a lesbian. Moore gave the child to the father. You call that sane?

He, as a circuit court judge, once said he could not guarantee a fair trial to someone who was not a Christian or a Jew. THAT is what you call a sane judge? Not even close.

You have been smashed every time you try to bring this up.
Not true at all. Moore issued a common sense order to protect the will of people in Alabama who 80% reject same sex marriagee. Again.........80%.

I think the people need to be heard and not some fat pig in a black rob. The courts are starting to threatens our democracy!

Bring the issue to the ballot and let the choice of the people stand! This is how democracy works...Or let the legislative make the choice. What ever comes first.
We are a Constitutional Republic, Matthew.

This is outstanding news. The Alabama Chief Justice is taking ethical moral action to stop the travesty of same sex marriage. 80% of Alabamans rejected same sex marriage and the state law should stand.

How many people in Alabama were against the Civil Rights Act? 80%?
Roy Moore is upholding Alabama's state Constitution. That's his job.

His first job is to uphold and obey the US Constitution. Defying a federal court order is certainly not doing that.

He is doing the same thing he did last time he was in office. He is trying to make his own religious beliefs the law of the state, and when he is told it is unconstitutional, he is defying the higher court's orders.

In that article, Buchanan wrote that when Nixon kicked off his historic comeback in 1966 with a column about the South (written by Buchanan), Nixon declared that the Republican Party would be built on a foundation of states rights, human rights, small government and a strong national defense, and leave it to the “party of Maddox, Mahoney and Wallace to squeeze the last ounce of political juice out of the rotting fruit of racial injustice”.

During the 1966 campaign, Nixon was personally thanked by Dr. King for his help in passing the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Nixon also endorsed all Republicans, except the members of the John Birch Society.

Notably, the enforcement of affirmative action began with Richard Nixon‘s 1969 Philadelphia Plan (crafted by black Republican Art Fletcher who became known as “the father of affirmative action enforcement”) that set the nation‘s first goals and timetables. Nixon was also responsible for the passage of civil rights legislation in the 1970’s, including the Equal Employment Act of 1972.

Fletcher, as president of the United Negro College Fund, coined the phrase “the mind is a terrible thing to waste.” Fletcher was also one of the original nine plaintiffs in the famous “Brown v. Topeka Board of Education” decision. Fletcher briefly pursued a bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 1995.

Nixon began his merit-based affirmative action program to overcome the harm caused by Democrat President Woodrow Wilson who, after he was elected in 1912, kicked blacks out of federal government jobs and prevented blacks from obtaining federal contracts. Also, while Wilson was president and Congress was controlled by the Democrats, more discriminatory bills were introduced in Congress than ever before in our nation’s history. Today, Democrats have turned affirmative action into an unfair quota system that even most blacks do not support.

His religious beliefs have nothing to do with the Alabama State Constitution Amendment that prohibits same sex marriage. Their Constitution must be upheld. The people are opposed to this vile immoral lifestyle. The numbers speak for themselves.

And the state marriage laws are subject to constitutional guarantees. The federal judiciary ruled that the Alabama gay marriage ban violated those constitutional guarantees. And that ruling remained intact all the way to the Supreme Court.

Moore just kissed his job goodbye by insisting that he could ignore a federal order. And good riddance.

His religious beliefs are WHY he is doing this. Moore isn't doing it for the people but because he think God should be the head of the state.

And that the majority of people in the state dislike it, has no bearing whatsoever. The majority of the people disagreed with desegregation too.

Sorry missed link to post #23.
Can you provide proof that can show that the judge only disallowed the female custody because she is a lesbian?

All 50 US States allow for Civil Unions. That covers all financial, Medical, and allows them all the same things that someone Married can do. This is a State's Vs. Federal Powers issue. Not a Gay Rights Issue. The Constitution does not allow for any Federal Intervention in any Marriage issues. They do NOT have the Enumerated Powers at the Federal Level of Governance to even hear this Case. The Lower Federal Courts have assumed powers they did not have. That is the ONLY reason SCOTUS is taking this up. So they can decide the case once and for all time. There is NO Federal Right to Marriage. Read the Constitution, specifically the 9th and 10th Amendments and the Preamble of the Bill of Rights.

So if we call it something else it is ok? lmao Stick with the "3/5" and "their not human" nonsense.

Please read the 9th and 10th Amendment. the federal government doesn't have the right to force States to accept same-sex marriage. Either you believe in the Constitution as written, including the Amendments. or you don't. It's that simple. Clearly you don't agree with or are unaware of what the Constitution says.
