The racist comment was essentially that the story was mega-national news mainly because all of the victims were White (Christians). Had they been Hispanic, Asian, or God-forbid, descendants of Black African enslaved people, this story would have been a footnote on page twelve of the local birdcage liners. Black lives, despite the trite slogan, don't really matter much.

This may have been true if there were fewer than ten victims, but the ever-growing magnitude of the disaster would have made it world news by now, regardless of who the victims were (demographically speaking).

Isn't is remarkable that the people who publicly make these remarks seem mainly to be the very people who have benefitted most from DEI and other bullshit initiatives that benefit POC's and women exclusively?
