As the Reuters article outlined this is largely a symbolic gesture but even symbolic gestures have their place in weaving a framework for allied collaboration.

It makes sense as both a geopolitical tactic and as an affirmation of a strong moral position in favor of sovereignty, territorial integrity and humanitarianism.

Oftentimes I am critical of the EU and its perceived weakness or intransigence but in this particular matter they are showing us how it is done... good to see.
