They still have to pay property tax, still have to pay the heat bill, still have to pay the electric bill, still have to pay for insurance on the building.

If you let that go on too long, the business can't open back up. It will be out of money.

Workers on the other hand get an unemployment check. Now the Congress is sweetening the pot with an extra $600.00 a week on top of that state unemployment for up to four months. Depending on what state you live in, that's equal to a person making $70,000 a year before taxes.

So now this thing lifts up. Businesses with their government help can open up again. The people on unemployment can easily afford to buy their products, and the system gets on track much quicker.

Unemployment. Many of these businesses are putting worker on a zero hour schedule. This makes it very difficult to get unemployment. Not to mention the loss of health insurance just when they are liable to need it. But hey. At least the business can save money and open up when this is all over. I heard Sweden was using a model where the government was paying the workers to keep the wheels turning instead of the layoffs and furloughs we’re going through.

giving you $5700 is nice today. but when you don't keep the business that employs them afloat, they're DOA in a few months, max. the focus is and should be on keeping the chain alive as long as we can. all you're doing is trying to get max $ today and pretend the rest of the world won't be impacted without any help.

Nah, it is pretty much everyone in Washington. Remember the Stimulus? Shovel Ready Jobs? Passed by wide Bipartisan Support and overseen by Obama? Handing cash to businesses to do things that they were probably going to do anyway. How about the response to the banking industry collapse in 2008? Washington could have literally paid off everyone’s mortgage with less money than they spent propping up the banks and insurance giant AIG. Everyone comes up with the same answer, pay off our cronies, and the businesses in our districts, because we want to be reelected.
