The Secret Service does some really stupid things. When I was EOD, in the early seventies we worked support for them. We had to wear civvies while on the detail. The Secret Service demanded that a bunch of nineteen to twenty one year olds IN SAN FRANCISCO wear conservative, dark colored suits. It was like we had signs around our necks screaming FEDS in neon letters.
