When listening to Bob Dylan songs you may note 3 things.
1. They are not like the songs of any other songwriter/singer. They are a genre all of their own.
2. The songs are all very different from one another.
3. Many of the songs are poems in a surrealist style, and thus very difficult to understand what he's talking about. Strangely over the course of 60 years, I have slowly come to understand the lyrics, that first time listeners rarely do.
It may seem pointless at first, but over time, it is worthwhile to be able to focus in on the art of the greatest poet/songwriter of the past 200 years, if not longer than that.
