He was shot for freeing the slaves. So then you are all for keeping slavery.

Freeing the slaves was purely a political maneuver on his part. Lincoln was willing to enshrine slavery into the Constitution forever if it kept the South from seceding.

Much as Washington gave it a pass otherwise he might have never gotten the room of people to sit down together and sign the Declaration (at the later date. On the original date, only Hancock signed it).
