Bloomberg asks Obama not to come...

Poor Obama...no photo opportunity!

Republican Governor Christie invited him to visit New Jersey today. I'm sure the cameras will be rolling there.

Meanwhile, will Romney continue to evade questions about his plan to shutter up FEMA?

President Obama requested $6.79 billion for FEMA in 2012, down slightly from the 2010 budget, which was $7.1 billion. But the administration has yet to submit a supplemental budget request to cover additional emergency costs.

Asked for clarification today, Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said the GOP nominee wasn't implying he would get rid of FEMA, but rather that he simply wants states to play a greater role in disaster response.

"Gov. Romney believes that states should be in charge of emergency management in responding to storms and other natural disasters in their jurisdictions," Henneberg said. "As the first responders, states are in the best position to aid affected individuals and communities, and to direct resources and assistance to where they are needed most. This includes help from the federal government and FEMA."

Funny that Romney didn't explain himself when asked the questions, rather than letting his spin doctors do it after the fact. Did you catch his phony rally turned relief effort, where they handed supporters food to pretend they were contributing?

The White House said the president and Lew spoke to Bloomberg to let him know the president planned to travel to New Jersey and to ask the mayor if he agreed with their assessment that Wednesday would not be the right time to visit the city.

Bloomberg said that he wasn't trying to "dis" the president and that his trip to New Jersey on Wednesday would represent the whole region.

He also spoke highly of the relationship between federal and local officials. He said that on a conference call with the president and other mayors and governors of affected areas, everybody kept saying, "Thank you for the service."

"You know, there was a lot of criticism with (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) back in the (Hurricane) Katrina days, and today, you hear nothing but good things about FEMA, and they certainly have been very helpful to us," Bloomberg said.

So again the lack of polling focuses entirely on events and issues(?)!

"Bloomberg on Tuesday said he spoke to Obama and his chief of staff, Jack Lew, and told them the city would 'love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do.'"

"Bloomberg said that he wasn't trying to 'dis' the president and that his trip to New Jersey on Wednesday would represent the whole region."

Are you saying ABC News is misquoting Mayor Bloomberg? Or are you just another cowardly Republican without the communications skills to explain your ad hominem attacks?

Cowardice is a Republican thing -- remember Sharron Angle? After, talking the talk ("2nd Amendment solutions") her walking the walk took the form of running -not walking- out the back door(s) of various venues.

What Republicans know is, if their positions are stated clearly thru a Q&A process - no middle classer in their right mind will ever vote for them.

Damn, I should have known. FOX always lies.

Obama talked to all the governors in the storm hit areas, it was nice of him to include Bloomberg. If he doesn't want him to come, I'm sure Obama has other things to do.

Boy, that was certainly different than the lies we've heard in this thread today, doesn't it.

Yes it is-----yes it is very different than what the rightwingers have been saying on this thread, but then if rightwingers didn't just make chit up they wouldn't have anything to say.

And after praising FEMA day before yesterday... today-----today, Mayor Bloomberg twisted Romney's shorts in a knot by endorsing President Obama

"You know, there was a lot of criticism with (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) back in the (Hurricane) Katrina days, and today, you hear nothing but good things about FEMA, and they certainly have been very helpful to us," Bloomberg said.

I agree with Bloomberg. What does an outgoing former President have to offer.

Bloomberg just endorsed Obama, so it has nothing to do with Obama personally. It just would take away from resources needed to help with getting the city back on it's feet. Of course, you are so partisan that you would never be able to figure out something so simple on your own.

Bloomberg asks Obama not to come because of the burden a presidential visit puts on NY infrastructure

But he still doesn't cancel the NYC Marathon that brings 1 million people into the city
