The day has past that the media (corporate heads, boards of advisors, editors journalists, and all article writers (those who don't qualify as true journalists who seem to outweigh the good ones at least in the US) need to be held accountable. Having the freedom to express oneself freely is an important element to our democratic republic, but that doesn't mean it's a license to libel, slander, and make deals with the devil at the crossroads for ratings or clicks. Many say that good journalism is dead and has been for a few decades now. It's time for the public to demand fair, unbiased, and factual news. Is that really to much to ask? I don't think so. Partisan talking heads would be on the rampage, claiming "foul" that being held accountable (fined for every error would be a good start ha) for accuracy was asking too much of them. I feel sorry for the decent reporters who do their jobs in reporting the news, not telling us what to think as one talking head was recorded as saying. If they assume the common people are fully satisfied with their half-truths and the like, it's time for a real shake up using self-learning AI's to be in charge of fact checking. It's coming folks to a theater near you, although the hard part is feeding these computers untainted information considering the slop that's out there.
