There are those blacks who immigrated here from other countries that are happy to claim descent from slaves if it gets them something. Only the very recent black immigrants, from Africa and the Carribean that have nothing in common with black Americans and really, hold them in contempt.

My personal experience is that most black Americans do not believe they are owed reparations as the descendant of a slave. They are owed PERIOD. Even if they weren't descended from slaves, they are still victims of institutionalized racism and will always be victims of institutionalized, generational racisim and are owed, as their children, grandchildren and generations in perpetuity.

The chumash Indians in California get a check from the government every month, it might be different for each tribe but those guys are getting paid.

a lot of tribes get direct aid from the fed..some even use it to build casinos...best revenge ever!

true I'm half Cherokee and Irish had some 1st hand experience with that.

bingo.....i am not sure what the differences are really...why one tribe can have casinos but another tribe cant ...reserves are considered sovereign for the most part...with their own laws etc....drug running thru reservations into canada is a big business....no border agents.....and then back from canada....pretty simple

It is but I don't have any documental proof, my great grandmother told my dad stuff about the history of it but she died 30 years ago.
