It was new to me when I binge watched it recently. I was so disappointed at the end when the captain turned out to be a flamer. And he had sex with the woman too.

AND there is no historical basis for that. Historical dramas should stick somewhat close to the facts.

most of these shows are "loosely" based on the real story....i guess the real pirates were not exciting enough.....

Amazon has a documentary that follows the same story line, Black Sails was astoundingly accurate in the larger plot lines.
