There was an organized French Resistance before D Day. They provided intelligence, helped down pilots escape, engaged in sabotage.While this is not true about France, it's good to hear you aren't "pissed off". The bile pumped into this thread by "32" would be amusing if it didn't sound so genuine. What is funny is that he put you on ignore because he doesn't like what you said, not because of anything you said about him.
32 is a really angry guy... A lot of right wingers have this problem.
But my Dad was in France in WWII, from Normandy to VE Day. He really had a poor opinion of the French. The French Resistance was largely a self-serving fantasy. Kind of like the "Lost Cause" mythology of the South. Everyone tries to repaint war to make themselves look heroic when more often than not, they were just a bunch of scared guys trying to stay alive.
Human nature, being what it is, people who live through something like this feel they need to make it about something greater.
During D Day, they destroyed some key bridges behind the German lines and assisted the invasion force
