That really is beside the point. I realize that the intent of the OP is somewhat aimed at the bithers but take that out of the equation and we are still ending up with wrong. It is simply wrong to imprison someone for exercising their right to speak. She should have been removed from the proceedings as she was and then released from there. Why go through the trouble and cost of arresting someone that really did nothing wrong. This is not a matter of covering anything up, it is a matter of congressmen believing they are all powerful and deserving of some vaunted respect from the general populous. They don't get that and they work for us. If someone want to yell out in session, so be it. They can simply be kicked out. No harm done.

The right to free speech is no so paramount that you are protected from criminal responsibility for disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct, or disrupting Congress. You commit a crime, you pay the punishment.

Read my statement. Just because some idiot wrote a law does not make the process right. Adultery is also punishable under the law in most states but you do not see people being thrown in jail for cheating. The law here is bullshit and she should not have been thrown in prison for such a small issue. Removing her from the scene was enough. You honestly support imprisoning her? The cop who arrested her was the Sergeant-at-Arms and he was ordered to do it by the Republican who was presiding over the house. That makes the GOP and no one else responsible for her arrest and prosecution.

This is obviously a RNC staged event, playing politics to keep this issue in the news. That is why the GOP leadership in the house will not drop the charges. The GOP wants the publicity from a trial to focus attention on the issue while they pretend to have clean hands on the issue.
