I stop listening to much of what Bill Maher has had to say after he called US servicemen cowardly for firing missiles.

This chief is white, so that's not the issue here.

The issue is whether or not she was advanced, not on her merits, but on her gender/sexual orientation.

On paper, at least, it would seem to be on her merits. She graduated the fire academy at the top of her class, and was promoted through a series of positions of increasing responsibility.

Sometimes, you can do everything right and still fail. That's just life.
